Kustom PCs was originally formed in 1998 as a homegrown business by Graeme Clark. Partnering with Thomas Hawthorn in 2000 until 2008, the first shop was opened in Ayr and soon carving a niche with specialised computing the kustompcs.co.uk ecommerce site launched in 2001. Kustom has grown from a small firm with a local customer base and now specialises in the retail of high-end PC components and accessories to computer enthusiasts over the world. Although Kustom ceased selling complete computer 'systems' in 2006, a huge range of specialised components are offered making this very website the ideal stop for any DIY PC enthusiast.

Kustom made itself notable in the industry by being the first UK company to offer case window modifications, neon kits and (subsequently) cathode lamps. It's continued to set trends, having a strong involvement in the LAN Gaming scene (the only UK company that can boast exhibiting at about 20 LAN parties every year) and also offering a unique selection of HTPC (Home Theatre computing) and Car PC products.
